Whenever we read the title of such listicles, we already exaggerate about some places to be on the list here. The ones who read about such paranormal sites understand every time we talk about haunted places in India, there are certain places that are bound to be on the list. Some of those places include Bhangarh and Kuldhara at Rajasthan, Ramoji Film City at Hyderabad, National Library of Kolkata, Dumas Beach of Gujarat and of course The Delhi Cantonment at New Delhi.
However, over the years, all these places have been hyped so much and mentioned so many times all over the internet that they have become more of a tourist spot. So, you either find couples making out or kids trying to be ghost hunters in these places. People are neither interested nor they find them Haunting or Scary anymore. So here is a list of 20 More Haunted Places in India which most of us never knew existed.
- Johnson & Johnson Signal, Mulund, Mumbai:
The City of Dream- Mumbai can also give you some worst Nightmares. The City is full of places which are reported to be haunted. Few have also been testified by the Paranormal Society of India. One such place is the Signal near Johnson & Johnson Co. at Mulund. People have usually reported to see a Lady in White Sari walking on this Road in the Dark of the Night. It is said that every New Moon Day, the Road also witnesses many fatal accidents leading to serious injuries or even death.
The ones who survived have said they were trying to save a woman in White Sari who was Crossing the Road. Many Drivers have also claimed to have given Lift to the Woman who disappeared from their vehicles after moving forward. The Employees of the Fire Brigade close by are always seen performing Pooja on Every New Moon Night here. People usually avoid taking the Road Late in the Night fearing the Lady's sighting.
- Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad:
The Gujarat Technological University (GTU) at Ahmedabad is among the most famous Universities of Gujarat. Recently along with the new campus the University has also gained some Restless Spirits. The Night-time Security Men keep complaining of hearing a Woman wailing followed by the voices of furniture being thrown around in the classrooms.
The doors of the classrooms open and close and the lift go up and down all by themselves. Staff Members have also reported to have felt the presence of a woman inside the lift even during the daytime. A guard stayed back to check what was happening but was later found lying unconscious.
- Bengaluru International Airport, Bengaluru:
The Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) is said to be one of the Most Haunted Airports of India and one of the Most Haunted Places in Bengaluru. The Airport has on several occasions experienced a severe sighting of a witch who haunts the place. The staff members are believed to spot the witch on the Cargo Section of the Airport. A Pilot stated that he had seen a lady in white sari and long hairs on the runway. He thought it must be a woman who must have lost her way. He asked the ground staff to help her. But as the ground staff approached her the woman disappeared. The ground staff is said to go in a deep shock.
This doesn't end here; there have been instances when people have seen her stand headless on the runway. Flight landings needed to be aborted because of her regular sightings. If reports are to be believed then the witch's presence has been confirmed by the infrared rays.
- Choice Hostel, Pune:
The Choice Hostel at Kurve Road behind McDonalds is said to be the Most Expensive Hostel of Pune. But apart from being the Most Expensive, it’s also considered one of the Most Haunted Spots in Pune. The Hostel is said to be haunted by the Soul of a Woman. Students living in the Hostel have often complained of seeing the Ghost of this Young Woman in Red Sari here Every Saturday Night. Some of them have also seen her reflection on the mirrors of the Bathrooms.
Everyone complains of hearing her sobs and screams and Payal tones every weekend in the Dark of the Night. Once the sunsets, the Hostel's atmosphere turns depressive making the students feel suffocated. Even the people staying in the Neighboring houses have reported to have seen this lady walking on the Terrace of the Hostel. If rumors are to be believed, then the Lady may be the Dead First Wife of the Owner of the Hostel who was Cheated by Him. However, the management denies the allegations saying that the owner is still a bachelor.
- Kundanbagh Haunting, Hyderabad:
Located close to St. Francis College at Kundanbagh in The City of Nawabs was the Bungalow of 56-Years-Old JayaPrada and her Two Daughters whose Father left them long time ago realizing they were gone Crazy. Nobody in the house worked. The bushes around were all grown to a longer height making the bungalow almost invisible from the outside view. The Queer Behavior and Foul Mouth of the mother-Daughter Trio prevented the Neighbors from Communicating with them. In fact, neighbors had reported to see all three of them roam around the house with candles at night. Three of them also hung bottles containing kerosene, wine or maybe blood in the balcony of their bungalow. One night when burglars tried to invade the house, they found the naked dead bodies of all three of them in a decomposed state. The Police were reported, and the post-mortem was carried out.
Reports said that all three of them were dead 6Months ago while the neighbors claimed to have seen them going to the Trash Can in their Santro Car just a couple of days ago. The whole case creeped out the entire City in 2003. The Bungalow is now considered to be haunted. Trespassers were reported of demonic possessions or mental illness. People usually try not to go near the house at Night. Some of them don't even like to look at it fearing JayaPrada and her daughters might look back at them from the windows. The house remains unsold to this day.
- Ghosh Park, Kidderpore, Kolkata:
"I still remember dreaming of a Black Lady walking back to the veranda with a baby in her hand till I was woken up to hear the news that I had a Miscarriage" recalls a Lady who is said to have several dreams of a Child standing in the same veranda saying, "She took me away from you!" Filmy right! But this is the story of most of the people who reside at Ghosh Park Colony of Kidderpore at Kolkata. The infamous residential area is quite famous for all the creepy incidents occurring there. It first came to light when it was reported that a Child was born here possessed by an evil spirit.
Be it a Chudail (Witch) living on a Peepal Tree or a Daayan standing under a Neem Tree or Apparitions of Men, Women and Children; Demonic Possessions or even Black Magic; Residents of Gosh Park Colony has experienced everything. People have also reported being attacked by evil spirits in the Nights especially during the Rains. Many religious practices are carried out as soon as women get pregnant here so that no evil powers effect the child during its birth.
- Igorchem Bandh, Goa:
Igorchem Bandh or Igorchem Road is a well-known haunted spot in Goa avoided by the locals. Situated behind the Church of Our Lady of Snow, this place is said to be haunted mostly even during the daytime. The place is said have endless evil spirits residing here looking out for victims to possess.
People say visiting this place between 2PM and 3PM gets the visitor possessed. Cool temperature, footsteps walking behind and a feeling of being watched is reported here Day and Night.
- Domestic Airport, Mumbai:
It is said that the older Terminal and the Baggage Counter of the Mumbai Domestic Airport is haunted. The Baggage Counter once used to be a Currency Exchange Counter which caught fire and claimed the life of a Woman and her Child. Since then, People have always reported to hear sounds of a Woman shouting for help or even clapping sometimes.
People usually feel the presence of the woman behind them when they are alone. Some of them also claim to have been picked up and thrown away by an invisible force. People working there seem to have heard footsteps of someone running. Sometimes the pilots of the flight had to abort the landing due to sightings of a Woman on the Runway.
- Banjara Hills Road No.12 Graveyard, Hyderabad:
How can a list of Haunted Places in India get complete without mentioning a couple of Cemeteries and Crematoriums!?! This one is in the Posh Banjara Hills Colony of Hyderabad. The Colony which holds the residence of the Rich and the Famous has a Graveyard on Road No.12 which has a reputation of paranormal experiences reported by People at Night. It’s reported that the Street Lights get Switched off here all by itself late in the Night. Also, there is a drop in temperature usually being noted here even during the summers.
Commuters usually complain of repeated tire punctures in their vehicles and a foul smell around them. Those who have experienced it multiple times do not take the route late in the Night. The Graveyard came to the limelight when a famous Girl's School beside it was shifted to another location after staff members started to complain about some strange happenings in the premises.
- Nirala Nagar, Lucknow:
Welcome to Nirala Nagar! A haunted colony in Lucknow. The colony is named after Suryakant Tripathi Nirala, a famous Lucknowi Poet. Nirala means Unique. Or you can also say weird. Weird is the story of Nirala nagar. Built in 1960 without much clean-up on a Large Crematorium and Six Mazaars, the colony is said to be jinxed in many ways. Senior Citizens say that the area was built up after cutting down several Peepal Trees where the ashes of the Dead were Deposited.
On an average, 3 out of 10 houses here remain unoccupied and the occupied ones are mostly left with care takers and servants with the owners living elsewhere. Several owners of the houses in this area have suffered huge losses and tragic deaths. No children or youngsters are much seen on the streets here. An eerie silence hangs over the colony after the sunset.
- Saffron BPO, Gurgaon:
Located on the Outer Circles of Delhi, Gurgaon is considered as the town of Professionals. Apart from being a hub of IT Companies and Call Centers, Gurgaon also have some famous Paranormal Stories associated with it. Built on top of a Graveyard, The Saffron BPO is considered as one of the Most Haunted Places in Gurgaon. The place is said to be haunted by a Girl called Rose. Basically, Rose was a Hardworking Employee in the Call Centre here who used to be Crowned as the Employee of the Month every Month. One day suddenly after a strangely long phone call Rose had taken an extended leave from the office.
Later when the call was traced, there was no one speaking on the other end. When Rose didn't turn up after her leave, people tried to contact her landlord who said he never knew a Girl named Rose. After an extensive search Rose' colleagues found out her home where her family claimed that Rose had died more than 8-Years-Ago. Rose's Colleagues and Friends were left traumatized, and brain damaged after this news. Rose remains a Mystery to this day. In fact, now her haunting is so prominent that people avoid talking about her inside the Saffron Building.
- NH17 Haunted Mumbai-Goa Highway:
The National Highway-17 or the Mumbai-Goa Highway is considered one of the most beautiful highways of India. Usually, people love to commute here during the rains which makes the place more beautiful. But the beautiful highway also has a secret. Part of the Highway is considered as the home to a Flesh Loving Witches. Several commuters have reported being victimized by the witches even during the daytime.
The witches are said to be hungry for blood, flesh, and meat irrespective of where it comes from. Be it a Man, Woman, or an Animal. People have reported about Cars suddenly stopping in the Middle of the Road and Non-Veg food items disappearing from their vehicles. Some of them have also said to have been scratched on their faces, backs and necks.
- Hotel Hindustan International, Kolkata:
The magnificent Hotel Hindustan (H.H.) International at Kolkata which is famous for its New Year Parties at its Pub: The Underground has a little Paranormal Secret. The Fourth Floor of the Hotel is said to be Haunted. Some parts of the floor are kept sealed away from the Guest and Employees' view. People staying there have often complained of feeling a presence with them inside the elevator late in the Night.
The lift also goes up to the Fourth Floor automatically in the Dark Hours. Guest who come here to stay Late Night have always complained of feeling someone's footsteps around them. Every floor here has a CCTV Camera just outside its Lift Landing but not the Fourth Floor. However, the management always denies the allegations of the Floor being haunted.
- The Abbey, Lohaghat, Uttarakhand:
Lohaghat is a beautiful Hill Station in Champawat District of Uttarakhand. Apart from scenic beauty, the Hill Station has a very old Bungalow known as "The Abbey". The bungalow was named after the person who constructed it. Later it was converted into a hospital and then started strange happenings one of which was the Doctor who would predict people's death.then take them to a place what he would call "Mukti Kothi". And the Next Day the person would be found dead.
It is still unknown whether the deaths were natural, or the doctor killed them. Since then, the place has been labelled as Haunted. People have spotted multiple spirits on various occasion. It is also said that it has a trail known as "Bhoot Ki Daang" frequented by two spirits at Night even today.
- St. Bede's College, Shimla:
The St. Bede's College in Shimla is an All-Girls College which was also once attended by Pretty Woman- Preity Zinta. But this college also has a mystery associated with it.
Girls staying in the College Hostel have reported of some mysterious sounds from the dining room every night. Some students have also said that a spirit haunts the college and roams around the campus at Night. However, the Professors and the Nuns deny such allegations.
- Karikattu Kuppam, Chennai:
Karrikattu Kuppam is a 150-Year-Old Fishing Hamlet in Mattukadu, 32Kms from Chennai which was one of the hard-hitting places during the 2004 Tsunami Killing 4 People including 2 Children. Even after more than 5 Years of the Calamity, the damage is still visible here.
Everything in the place, including a Temple remains uncleaned and unoccupied. People who once resided here have left the village. Locals have reported about a Child and an Old Man's Spirit residing at this place which is the reason it had been abandoned. Some of them have also said to have seen their apparitions and heard their noises during the dark hours.
- Valmiki Nagar, Chennai:
Chennai is one of the Most Peaceful Cities of India. But it also has a darker side that Most of us don't know about. Apartment No. F2, #3 Steward Road at Valmiki Nagar has a Haunted House situated. It is said that the owner's daughter had committed suicide here and her spirit continues to haunt the place. For many years the house remained vacant until 5 Friends decided to Move into the place in 2008. However, it was again finally vacated some time ago.
"Mysterious sounds, sobs and screams emanate from the house. I haven't seen an apparition here but there is an intense negative vibe. The doors slam and shut at 2AM in the Night. I have a constant feeling of someone watching me. I haven't been able to sleep from past few nights." stated Anand Natesan, a Fashion Designer who was the last one to vacate the house once again permanently in 2012. Others who have later tried to trespass the property have reported of severe illness or mental instability.
- Sector 16, Chandigarh:
Chandigarh is a city full of development and resources. People of different sections of the society reside here. But the city also has a dark side. The Bungalow at Sector-16 reveals the Haunted side of the city. People who have trespassed the property have usually reported of spotting a small kid with horrible eyes and a woman walking in the lawn.
Some of them have even informed of about a dark figure haunting the rooms around the midnight. Sometimes the silence is also said to be replaced by loud screams of a woman. However, the neighbors deny all the allegations stating that the property is in a legal dispute among the owners.
- MG Road Haunted House, Pune:
The State Tourism Government describes Pune as the Queen of Deccan and the Cultural Capital of Maharashtra. But apart from a developing infrastructure Pune also has some Decrepit Houses from the Classical Indian Age. A Bungalow at M.G.Road right next to the Garden Beer Bar and Opposite to the Water Office is one such haunted spot here. It was once reported that a young girl was killed here who now haunts the place.
Nights in the house are full of fear. Loud cries, painful screams and sobs suddenly turning into giggles have been reported here. Some people have also reported to have seen the apparition on the terrace of the house as if guarding it from the trespassers. Noises of Doors and Windows being knocked creeps out the trespassers.
- Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi (IIT-BHU):
The IIT-BHU Varanasi is said to be haunted in many ways. One such haunted place is the Vishwakarma Boys Hostel. The beautiful hostel doesn't creep you at first look. But people have reported to spot the ghost of a tall man in the hostel at Night who has a clearly visible strained mark on its neck. People say it must be the MTech. Student who committed suicide here by hanging himself during the holidays.
Since the body was recovered after a long time there was a strained mark on its neck and the height had lengthened to almost 7 feet because of hanging. The ghost would just keep walking around the hostel leaving the inmates terrified. Apart from that some students have also claimed to have heard the voice of a woman's anklets who is said to walk around the hostel every Amavasya.
